The Cringe Factor

Some people just rub me the wrong way. I just about sunk into the floor at the office Christmas party when the person who was covering for our summer holidays showed up and was invited to the partners' table. I cannot really say why she just drives me nuts. She reminds me of the evil sister, but worse in a way. She is a new graduate and thinks she knows everything. I find myself biting my tongue when she expresses her opinions....she like to quote academic studies but has no experience in the trenches. My sister is very much like this. She tends to believe everything some guideline claims.

I shouldn't let my sister or this cocky young thing bother me, but they do. I guess I think they should both acknowledge my experience. But really, what does it matter? I will have to deal with the evil one over the holidays. It makes me cringe.

My mom even gets so stressed about her arriving. She criticizes everything. I expect it, and try to ignore her, but she is like a dog with a bone. Lately she has been on my case, and even my mother's, over me not getting the H1N1 shot for myself and the creatures. I don't know why she gets so worked up about it. A colleague of mine suggested that I just lie and tell her we did get it, and tell her its because of her superior wisdom that I am deferring to. Ha. I like it.....
