BBC News - Why do people often vote against their own interests?

BBC News - Why do people often vote against their own interests?

This seems to be the problem right now in the US. I am amazed when I see people who cannot afford health care complaining about reform. I am amazed when I see the articles circulating about Canadian health care that are so untrue. The lobbyists are also strong, but I cannot see how they can influence people so strongly. Oh well, I am thankful I don't live or work there. Although I would make more money, it seems it would be such an unethical system that I would compromise my integrity.
